HISTORY 222 BRUNSWICK ST

FITZROY

The site of Fitzroy Social, 222 Brunswick Street, has a rich history dating back to its use as a Wool storage shed post WWII. The building is a prime example of the street’s high concentration of migrant occupation after the war, and the small-scale industrial use that many of the shopfronts on the street were used for during this time.

Fast forward to 2016 and 222 Brunswick Street is the fifth venue in the Retail Savvy Group’s Melbourne portfolio. Maintaining the industrial integrity of the building was front and centre of the refurbishment. Equally so was creating a space that customers would feel comfortable enjoying all year round – summer or winter, daytime or evening.

Fitzroy Social keeps the warehouse style with its open plan concept with added options for private cocktail spaces, and a fully contained function room upstairs for 100 people overlooking Brunswick Street.
